Summer Toboggan in Salzburg

What could be more fun than a Summer Toboggan on a beautiful blue sky day in the mountains? Fabulous views and the wind in your hair – magic.

But where should you go, what are the opening hours and what will it cost to toboggan? I’ve tried to answer these questions here, along with a handy map showing the tobogganing locations. There’s even a few videos.

LiechtensteinklammLiechtensteinklamm is one of the most beautiful gorges in Austria. 4km long and 300m deep, in some places the gorge is only 4 meters wide.

The walk through the gorge takes you approx 1km along a well maintained boardwalk consisting of stairs, pathway and bridges. Only 45 minutes by car and less than an hour by public transport, Werfen im Pongau is a great destination if you want to get out of the city but not travel too far. Add to this three great attractions, to suit all tastes, and it might just be one of the best day trip destinations around.

Visit Hitler’s Spectacular Eagle’s Nest

View of the Eagle's Nest from aboveThe Kehlsteinhaus, or Eagle’s Nest as it’s known in English, was supposedly a 50th birthday present to Hitler from his friends in the Nazi Party. In reality it seems that Hitler ordered it himself. They completed construction in record time – 13 months – given it’s location at the top of a rocky ridge, and the need to construct a new 6.5km road which climbs 700m.
