Without a doubt, Salzburg is one of the most beautiful small cities in the world. Located in a valley and surrounded by mountains, there’s scarcely a place in the city from where you can’t get a glimpse of either the imposing Untersberg or the no-nonsense Gaisberg. Add to this the abundance of well preserved medieval and baroque buildings and you feel like you’ve stepped back in time by several hundred years.
Having moved to Salzburg at the start of 2017, I hope that with this site I can impart some of what I learned about moving to Austria in general and Salzburg in particular. Whether you’re looking for information about finding somewhere to live, sending your kids to school or just scratching your head about how to buy a car, this blog will have the answers.
If you’re visiting and wondering whether it’s worth heading up the fortress or or spending time wandering the old streets, we’ll provide advice from those who live here. Wondering what to do on a rainy day? We can help with that.
